The Benefits of Joining Cross Trail Outfitters

For my second blog post, I thought it would be acceptable, to show the benefits a young boy will gain when they join CTO. In my interview with Chip Camp, the foothills cross trail outfitters director, he talked about how they will be doing bible study and devotion on a weekly basis. This will benefit them each day as they grow closer in their walk with Christ. Chip also mentioned how they will have the opportunity to go outdoors and just do what a boy should do. In today’s society you see so many young boys just sitting inside playing video games and watching television. This club will take them out of their homes and get them outside in the natural environment. In this environment they will be able to socialize with their fellow peers and be able to learn about everything that god has created for them to enjoy.

The boys are not the only ones who benefit from this though. The parents also benefit from this as well. Chip stated, “That after these boys were in CTO for a while, they would hopefully be better sons and more Christ like.” This is a big benefit for parents, especially if their young boy is full of energy, and loves to always be doing something. I know, as I was growing up, I always loved to be getting into something. So this, to me, sounds like a great investment for someone’s young boy.

In addition to the interview with Chip Camp, I also decided to do some research on how a kid being inside too long can affect them negatively. As I said before there is just way too many kids glued to the television these days. Everything from video games to just watching television itself. In an online article on the website LIVESTRONG.COM, a magazine, Exchange: The Early Childhood Leader’s Magazine, states that, “ Many children are experts in the field of video and computer games—skills that can be good for their critical thinking and fine motor skills, but children need more than screen time in their lives. The importance of outdoor play is evident when considering the high rates of childhood obesity.”

This shows me that we need to get our children, not only just young boys, but young girls as well, back outside, so we can break the growing trend of obesity, in America’s next generation.  If we don’t show them that when there young, they may never see it fit to do it when they get older. However, this not only will help our next generation be healthy physically, it will also help them mentally. I have known many kids that already struggle to communicate face to face with their peers. They get really stressed out and their nerves get very torn up. This is nothing more than just communicating in class with each other. This to me breaks my heart. Kids should not have to be scared to talk to their friends or peers. It is something that helps them build their confidence and self-esteem as they mature.

In conclusion, I hope this post, has given you more information, about this wonderful CTO club, and all it has to offer. I hope it has also given you more insight, about how crucial it is for the kids to play outside. Us as adults need to take more action in the lives of our youth, and show them that life is not just about video games and television. It is about taking hold of the life that god has given you, and enjoying every part of it.

WHAT IS CTO

Hello my name is Jacob Thomas, and I created this blog to inform others about a newly created club at Buffalo Baptist Church. To start off your probably wondering what does CTO stand for. Well it stands for Cross Trail Outfitters. CTO is a youth hunting and fishing club intended for boys and young men age 7-20 serving the Foothills area of North Carolina. However, we are always in need of adult volunteers to help us along. I myself am a volunteer who just joined on recently, and i have to say, what a blessing it is each and every day.

We want to pass along the great American outdoor heritage while teaching lessons about life, maturity, and faith.  We offer year-round hunting and fishing trips, skills training courses, community service, fellowship and more.

We meet the first monday of every month in our fellowship building usually around 6 o clock in the evening. For more information on this click on the "Guys Night Out" tab on the right side of this blog.
